In-Class Tasks

This photo is an appropriation of Gerrit Fokkema's, Blacktown Man. I applied a Black and White filter to the photo in order to keep the central focus of the photo based on the person. The photograph emphasises the harsh angles and rigid structures of the schoolyard, only broken by the figure in the foreground. In taking this photo, it was important to maintain the Rule-of-Thirds to create a symmetry and flow to the photo. This allows one's eye to absorb each aspect of the scene.

This photograph suggests a collision between urbanisation, our contemporary society and the natural environment. We see the soft remnants of nature trying to break through the severe structures of a school environment. I aimed to capture the sun glare piercing through the tree and reflecting along the staircase, showing signs of resistance.
